Cheer Squad Code of Conduct

Official Devils Cheer Squad Code of Conduct

April 2026

This Official Devils Cheer Squad Code of Conduct (Code of Conduct) forms part of, and must be read in conjunction with the TFC AFL Limited Membership Terms and Conditions, as amended from time to time.

1. Application

All Official Devils Cheer Squad (Cheer Squad) members must comply with this Code of Conduct.

Any breach of this Code may result in disciplinary action, including:

  • written warnings or infringement notices;
  • removal from the Cheer Squad area or activities;
  • restriction of access to Cheer Squad ticketing or benefits; and/or
  • suspension or termination of Tasmania Devils membership.

Alleged breaches will be assessed by the Club. Where appropriate, members may be given an opportunity to respond prior to disciplinary action being taken, unless immediate action is required to ensure safety or compliance with venue requirements.

Nothing in this Code limits the Club’s rights under venue conditions, membership terms and conditions, or applicable laws.

2. Purpose

To Honour the Map and Inspire the Future (our Devils’ Why), the Cheer Squad plays a vital role in creating an environment that reflects the spirit of Tasmania and the Tasmania Devils.

We are Stronger Together when we create a safe, inclusive and family-friendly atmosphere that brings energy, pride and respect to every game and every interaction.

This Code sets the standard for how we show up, for each other, for our players, and for the broader community.

3. Cheer Squad Member Conduct

All Cheer Squad members are expected to:

3.1 Represent the Club with pride and respect

  • Conduct themselves in a respectful, lawful and sportsmanlike manner at all times
  • Follow all lawful and reasonable directions from Club representatives, venue staff and security
  • Represent the Club in a way that reflects the Devils’ Why & Way, both at games and in the community

3.2 Create a safe and inclusive environment

  • Not engage in, or endorse, any form of discrimination, vilification or abuse based on race, gender, religion, disability, sexuality or any other protected attribute
  • Not engage in threatening, violent, aggressive or disruptive behaviour
  • Not use offensive, sexist or abusive language, gestures, signage or chants
  • Actively contribute to an environment where everyone feels welcome and safe

3.3 Uphold standards in all settings, including online

When engaging at games, events or in any online environment (including social media, forums, group chats or messaging), members must:

  • behave respectfully and responsibly; and
  • not post or share content that could harm the reputation of the Club or the Cheer Squad

3.4 Prioritise the safety of children and young people

The protection and safety of children and young people is paramount.

The Club and Cheer Squad have zero tolerance for any form of harm or abuse. Members must:

  • comply with the Club’s Safeguarding Children and Young People policies;
  • report any concerns, suspicions or allegations of harm immediately via the appropriate channels or to authorities where required; and
  • hold and maintain a current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Check (or equivalent). Participation in the Cheer Squad is conditional upon maintaining a valid check at all times.

3.5 Comply with venue and game day requirements

  • Follow all venue terms and conditions
  • Respect the role of venue staff and security
  • Not consume alcohol or illicit substances in the designated Cheer Squad area, which is a dry zone
  • Not enter the Cheer Squad area while intoxicated or under the influence of illicit substances

3.6 Represent the Cheer Squad on game day

  • Wear Tasmania Devils colours and present in a way that reflects active and visible support for the Club
  • Support all Tasmania Devils teams with energy and positivity
  • Participate in Cheer Squad activities such as chants, flags and other match day elements

Game day access and ticketing may be prioritised for members who actively contribute to the Cheer Squad and embody its spirit.

3.7 Use of banners, flags and materials

All banners, flags, signage and other materials used in the Cheer Squad area must be:

  • respectful and non-offensive; and
  • compliant with Club and venue requirements

4. Reporting and Complaints

We all have a role to play in Answering the Call and upholding the standards of the Cheer Squad.

If you see behaviour that is inappropriate, unsafe or inconsistent with this Code, you are encouraged to report it.

4.1 At games

  • Notify a security guard or use the venue’s anti-social behaviour reporting process
  • Notify a Cheer Squad leader or Club representative, where available

Do not take matters into your own hands. Venue security is responsible for managing incidents and may remove individuals where necessary.

4.2 At all other activities (including online)

  • Report to relevant authorities (e.g. police), where appropriate
  • Report to the relevant digital platform (e.g. social media provider)
  • Contact the Club’s Membership Team via membership@devilsfc.com.au

Closing

Being part of the Official Devils Cheer Squad is a privilege.

With that comes a responsibility to represent the Club, each other and Tasmania in the right way, with pride, respect and energy. When we all play our role, we create something powerful for our players, our members and our community.

This is how we Honour the Map and Inspire the Future.
